There are times when you need to copy some files from one folder to another and you may decide to use two explorer windows. Additionally, you may bring up a browser to look for instructions for helping you with the copy process. During this time, you may want to listen to some music, so you open a player as well and all of a sudden, an instant messenger window pops up, because a friend needs help with something. As a direct result, your screen will be cluttered with too many windows and you will need a few minutes to sort them. With Infinite Screen, you can expand the working space on your desktop. Instead of stuffing a large number of windows in a limited space, you can place them beyond the screen's edges. The application allows you to pan on a limitless desktop, so you can open any number of windows, without overcrowding your desktop.

Infinite Screen is offered free of charge and it doesn't need to be installed. All you have to do is download and run its executable. The application has been tested and it is known to work on Windows 7 and XP, but you can run it on other versions as well. Additionally, new features for Infinite Screen are on their way, so you can expect updates at any time.

Launching the application is sufficient to remove any boundaries from your desktop. While holding down the CTRL key, you have to "push" one of the screen's edges, with the mouse cursor, to scroll in its corresponding direction and reveal free desktop space, where you can place your windows. Alternatively, you can use a series of keyboard shortcuts for the same effect. When you scroll on your desktop, all windows will move, but your icons will keep their original positions.

You can reconfigure existing keyboard shortcuts or define new ones, on the application's tabbed user interface. It is also possible to resize the sensitive edges on the screen, if you don't want to scroll by accident when you touch an edge. The software provides other useful options as well. If you need to have a specific window in front of you at all times, you can add it to an exceptions list. You don't have to browse for any files or target a window. Infinite Screen automatically detects your active windows and it displays them in a list, on its interface. All you have to do is select a window's entry and click a button to move it to the exceptions list. Windows that are added to the exceptions list will keep their positions when you scroll on the desktop.

Other options can be used to switch to a finite desktop mode. While the finite mode is active, you can still scroll on your desktop, but you will eventually reach a boundary. You can also activate a loop mode, which allows you to scroll until you encounter a window that already passed on your screen. The software also allows you to arrange your windows, with nothing more than a single click. You can arrange them horizontally or vertically, in an ascending or descending order, based on their sizes. Additionally, Infinite Screen provides options for saving and loading the positions of your windows and for gathering them on the screen.

Pros

The software gives you infinite working space on your desktop. You can scroll in any direction, jut by touching the screen's edges or corners. It is also possible to arrange windows automatically and set up exceptions if you need to keep a window in visual range at all times.

Cons

A map tool would make windows easier to find on the infinite desktop. Huge projects, that involve countless windows, can be managed easy and comfortably, thanks to Infinite Screen's simple, but effective functionality.
